A quick Watt in your ear

They are saying that mobile phones are causing brain tumours in children. Phones with government health warnings could soon be the norm. I think such warnings are justified, though for a different effect on the brain: distraction. I’ve observed drivers and pedestrians wander into each other’s paths as a result of being preoccupied with a mobile phone conversation. We may produce excellent multitasking capabilities in mobile devices, but this does not extend to the end users. It would be nice if the mobile devices could be sensitive to the usage environment, and thereby save lives. As for the energy of mobile phone signals affecting young brains, well, I remain to be convinced.
